A bit about Kitchen Dancing Founder ‘80s child’ Jo
Hi, I’m Jo and I started dance classes at the age of 4, over 35 years ago and haven't stopped dancing since! I can't stop myself on the dance floor especially when the 80s and 90s tunes are in full flow and as far as I'm concerned dancing keeps you young! Kitchen Dancing was born in 2017 and was a dream come true. The music is uplifting and should make you want to sing, while the dance routines are fun, varied, fully inclusive for all ages and completely unique!
I'm a fully qualified Group Fitness Instructor and hold a degree in Contemporary Dance (and French). I've danced in several musical productions, both professional and amateur, on stages in Blackpool, Nottingham and Derby. I also own a specialist tour operator Running Escapes, offering bespoke running holidays and Sound Escapes, delivering music tours!
A bit about Teenyboppers ‘80s child’ Steph
Hi, I’m Steph and I’ve always loved to dance! I started dance classes at an early age and went on to perform in numerous amateur musical productions in Nottingham and Derby. Like Jo, I am also an 80’s child and we bonded over our love of musicals, 80’s music and dancing in the kitchen after a night out!
Since having my three children and after attending many preschool classes with them over the years, I decided it would be great to combine my love of music and dance with working with small people and Teenyboppers was born! I delivered my first class in September 2019 but have yet to complete a full year due to Covid restrictions. I absolutely love selecting a range of music to sing and dance to, devising fun and engaging activities but most of all seeing the little ones interacting with their grownups, responding to the music and even remembering some of the moves and joining in as they grow in confidence. I feel very lucky to be able to do something I enjoy so much!
